Mission

Invictus Academy of Richmond (Invictus) prepares 100% of students in grades 7–12 to thrive in the colleges of their choice, solve relevant problems, and communicate with confidence. Invictus is a new school that opened in the 2018–19 school year. Stay up to date with school news and upcoming events by visiting Invictus’ website.

Curriculum & Instruction

Invictus has selected a rigorous, culturally responsive, college preparatory curriculum from one of the top school networks in the country. Students are required to complete the A-G UC/CSU course requirements to graduate high school, and will have the option to take a variety of AP courses. On a weekly basis, students also take part in a personalized learning period, Advisory, and electives.

Culture & Safety

Invictus has a consistent rewards and consequences system school-wide, which teachers and staff are trained to implement during 3 weeks of professional development before the school year starts. We have developed a library of restorative assignments and exercises students must complete when they breach school wide expectations, and our Dean’s Office works with students to help them learn and grow from mistakes, all while celebrating students when they make good choices. Finally, we place huge emphasis on parent communication, including calling families to share good news (not just constructive feedback).

Programs & Activities

Invictus values communication with parents. The school sends a weekly report home with students so that parents are informed about their child’s progress and hosts multiple forums for parents to offer input and partner with school staff. Invictus also believes in helping students grow their non-academic skills and offers electives, where teachers teach students an activity of interest to them (e.g., basketball, yoga, chess, and more).

COVID-19 Safety Information

Invictus is providing in-person instruction, as well as an Independent Study option. Our facilities have AC ventilation and a largely outdoor campus, aside from classrooms. We have a vaccine requirement for all staff, reducing sub days and staffing shortages, and enforce universal masking with high levels of supervision throughout the school day. See website for more information.
